Message: Merritt's Grill is a treasured Chapel Hill institution since early in the 20th Century. One of their signature sandwiches is the BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato) on sourdough bread. The current location is a converted gas station, harkening back to "olden days" and preserving traditions of regional favorites rather than franchises. Recommend if you want the "Southern Part of Heaven" experience. Close to UNC Chapel Hill and the UNC Hospital System that provides health care from around the state. Located in the "Golden Triangle" of North Carolina, that includes the state capital- Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Research Triangle Park, Cary and other areas in the central part of the state so many people are choosing to move to.

Message: The Carolina buger was great. Really wanted to try the BLT. But since I'm not a fan of tomatoes my host recommend I try something else. Next time I'm getting a BLT, minus the T! Her BLT sandwich looked irresistible..

Message: Who doesn't like a BLT? The place looks to be an old gas station. The portions are huge and the atmosphere is just relaxing al with a beautiful setting.

Message: What a cute place! Very friendly staff! You can eat inside or outside- there's plenty of seating. The food is KILLER! I loved my turkey, bacon, and guacamole sandwich. I also got the banana pudding and it didn't disappoint. So so good! I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu that include their amazing bacon.

Message: The sandwiches here are quite hefty. I didn't have anything to eat for breakfast but a single BLT filled me up. They have a chalkboard to compare the different levels of BLTs they offer (and on the menu too. The single has 7 slices of bacon). The bread was toasted just enough, lettuce and tomatoes looked and tasted fresh, and the bacon was a right level of cripsy. The parking is tight, and there is an additional lot across the street. Indoor is very limited seating and it comes very crammed considering how busy this place gets. The staff was friendly and helpful! The most surprising aspect of my experience here was the food turn around time. Granted, all I had was 1 sandwich but still, it was fast! They definitely have a system in place to accommodate their popular business. It's primarily an outdoor seating location, but the outdoor seating is beautiful. There is a bamboo restoration surrounding the outdoor seating, and surprisingly the chairs were comfortable.

Message: I first read about Merritt's Grill in the Tarheel Traveler book, Good Eats. The article showcased their famous BLT sandwich.. My husband and I drove from Raleigh (only 35 minutes or so), and picked up a single BLT and a double (for me).. We placed our order online. These BLT's are incredible! They are loaded and absolutely out of this world, delicious! Although we did not eat it there, my husband said the inside was nice, service was great, and the employees were very friendly.. We both got ours on sourdough bread. Pictured is mine, the double BLT on sourdough. It was as good as it looks. Better!

Message: Stopped in to give it a try and I am so impressed with the food. Of course I had to try the double BLT and it was amazing, the bread was great, the Bacon was cooked just right and the veggies tasted so fresh. I also had the perfectly pulled pork sandwich. it was incredible, very nice portion size and the coleslaw on it was nice and crisp and the pork had wonderful flavor! We live 8 minutes from here I will be eating here often!
